About Us

Dogs that Help is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing service dogs to disabled veterans and first responders at little to no cost.

Our organization is made up of professional trainers, veterans, volunteers & dog lovers who all understand the immense improvement in the quality of life a service dog can provide.

Our Story

Beginning in 2016, Dogs that Help envisioned the possibility of helping veterans and first responders in need within the local community. Our initial goal was to place two service dogs each year.

Now, Dogs that Help has proudly placed over 60 service dogs and 3 therapy dogs with veterans and first responders across the nation with many more in training! We could not be more proud of what the organization has accomplished and will continue giving back to those that sacrificed so much.

Our team is a passionate pack made up of veterans, first responders, professional trainers, and dog lovers from all walks of life! We’re united by our love for dogs and our mission to make a difference—one paw at a time. President

Luke Reinhold

As an Army veteran, our president brings strong leadership, dedication, and a deep understanding of service to the mission of Dogs That Help. His background in the military, combined with his passion for giving back to fellow veterans and first responders, plays a key role in guiding the organization’s vision and values.

Vice President

John Turnbull

Our Vice President plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of Dogs That Help. He assists with organizing fundraisers, coordinating community events, and providing leadership to ensure our programs run smoothly. His commitment to our mission and ability to keep things on track make him an essential part of our team’s success.

Secretary

Connie Reinhold

Our Secretary provides valuable support to the leadership team and plays an important role in maintaining organizational accountability. With strong attention to detail and a practical approach, she helps ensure communication runs smoothly and internal processes stay on track. Her dedication and oversight bring balance and structure to the team’s operations.

Community Liaison

Will Schroder

Coming from a first responder family, our Community Liaison brings firsthand experience and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by those we serve. He plays a key role in building meaningful relationships within the community, coordinating outreach efforts, and representing our organization with integrity and compassion. His insight and leadership help strengthen our connection to the veterans, first responders, and supporters who are at the heart of our mission.

Director of Operations

Ashley Castle

Our Director of Operations oversees the financial, legal, and administrative functions that keep Dogs That Help running efficiently and responsibly. From managing budgets and contracts to ensuring compliance and organizational accountability, she provides the structure and support needed for our programs to thrive. Her attention to detail and strategic oversight are essential to the long-term success of our mission.

Head Dog Trainer

Mackenzie Counts

Our Head Dog Trainer brings years of hands-on experience and a deep understanding of canine behavior to the Dogs That Help program. As the owner of Belly Up Dog Training, she has dedicated her career to helping dogs become well-mannered, confident companions and service dogs that truly make a difference. With a calm, methodical approach and a strong foundation in task training, she ensures each dog is fully prepared to meet the unique needs of their handler. Her expertise is a key part of every successful placement.
